LaKevia Jackson, the mother of one of Young Thug's children, was shot and killed at Metro Fun Center in southwest Atlanta.

LaKevia's mother, Sherina Jackson, spoke to local CBS affiliate WRDW, and she revealed that LaKevia was attending her best friend's birthday party at the bowling alley. While there, an argument started over a bowling ball, and LaKevia was shot while leaving the establishment.

Sherina Jackson stated, "I didn’t know that was going to be the last time I talked to my baby. I could hear her over the phone crying and screaming then her best friend said she’s not breathing! I lost my baby all over a bowling ball."

Atlanta PD hasn't released information about the suspect, but they believe they are close to an arrest based on ballistic and surveillance evidence, along with witness testimony.

More details to come.

A Florida man will be serving hard time after posing as a member of the Wu-Tang Clan to swindle several hotels out of more than $300,000.

According to a report from Atlanta's WSB-TV on Tuesday (March 16), a 29-year-old man named Aaron Barnes-Burpo was sentenced to seven years in prison after pretending to be a member of the Staten Island, N.Y.-based rap crew and affiliated with Roc Nation to dupe hotels out of services for free. He has reportedly been charged with conspiracy to commit wire fraud and aggravated identity theft.

Southern District of Georgia's Acting U.S. Attorney David H. Estes applauded an employee at the hotel for a job well done. "For several weeks, these men defrauded multiple businesses by posing as famous musical artists and their retinue," Acting U.S. Attorney Estes said. "Thanks to an alert hotel clerk, their phony hit parade came to an abrupt halt."

The report also notes that in court documents and testimony, Barnes-Burpo alongside his co-defendant Walker Washington, confessed to "falsely portrayed themselves as affiliated with the Roc Nation production company and the hip-hop group Wu-Tang Clan as early as September 2019, and used those fictitious representations along with fraudulent and stolen credit cards to rent luxury limousines and defraud hotels, caterers and production studios of thousands of dollars in goods and services in multiple cities, primarily in the Southeast."

The Georgian Terrace hotel and the Hyatt Regency in Atlanta said that the duo failed to pay bills of $45,000 and $39,000, respectively.

On Nov. 21, 2019, staff at the Fairfield Inn and Suites in Augusta, Ga. became skeptical of Barnes-Burpo and Washington, and this is when their scam began to dissolve. The hotel workers then notified the FBI and the Richmond County Sheriff's Office.

In addition to Barnes-Burpo serving seven years behind bars, he must also repay almost $300,000 to 19 businesses that were victims of his defrauding scheme and serve three years of supervised release.

Washington, 52, on the other hand, is awaiting sentencing. He was charged with conspiracy to commit wire fraud as well.

MC Kevin married his wife, lawyer Deolane Bezerra, three weeks ago

But wedding vows are tough, especially when you are a popular recording artist like Kevin.

On Sunday, Kevin and his friend Victor Fontenelle met Bianca Domingues, a 26-year-old model and escort, during an afternoon of drinking and smoking. One thing led to another, and the three went up to Kevin's hotel room to have sex.

During the threesome, Kevin got word via text that his new wife was looking for him. So when he heard a knock on the door he assumed it was her. He went out to the balcony and tried to climb down onto the balcony below. But he lost his footing and fell five stories, landing hard right next to the pool.

He died in the ambulance ride to the hospital.

It actually wasn't his wife at the hotel room door, rather another friend looking to get in on the action.

After learning of Kevin's death, his widow found Dominques --who was paid about 400 bucks to have sex with Kevin and Fontenelle -- in the hotel lobby and the two women fought, only stopping when the police separated them.

Kevin's funeral was yesterday.

Deolane paid tribute to her late, hooker-loving husband on Instagram

WASHINGTON (AP) — The wife of Mexican drug kingpin Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman (pictured above)was arrested in the United States and accused of helping her husband run his multibillion-dollar cartel and plot his audacious escape from a Mexican prison in 2015.

Emma Coronel Aispuro, a 31-year-old former beauty queen, was arrested at Dulles International Airport in Virginia on Monday and is expected to appear in federal court in Washington on Tuesday afternoon. She is a dual citizen of the United States and Mexico.

Her arrest is the latest twist in the bloody, multinational saga involving Guzman, the longtime head of the Sinaloa drug cartel. Guzman, whose two dramatic prison escapes in Mexico fed into a legend that he and his family were all but untouchable, was extradited to the United States in 2017 and is serving life in prison.

And now his wife, with whom he has two young daughters, has been charged with helping him run his criminal empire. In a single-count criminal complaint, Coronel was charged with conspiracy to distribute cocaine, methamphetamine, heroin and marijuana in the U.S. The Justice Department also accused her of helping her husband escape from a Mexican prison in 2015 and participating in the planning of a second prison escape before Guzman was extradited to the U.S.

Coronel was moved to the Alexandria Detention Center in Virginia late Monday night and is expected to appear by video conference for her initial court appearance on Tuesday. Her attorney Jeffrey Lichtman declined to comment Monday night.

As Mexico’s most powerful drug lord, Guzman ran a cartel responsible for smuggling mountains of cocaine and other drugs into the United States during his 25-year reign, prosecutors said in recent court papers. They also said his “army of sicarios,” or “hit men,” was under orders to kidnap, torture and kill anyone who got in his way.

His prison breaks became the stuff of legend and raised serious questions about whether Mexico’s justice system was capable of holding him accountable. In one case, he escaped through an entry under the shower in his cell to a milelong (1.6-kilometer-long) lighted tunnel with a motorcycle on rails. The planning for the escape was extensive, prosecutors say, with his wife playing a key role.

Court papers charge that Coronel worked with Guzman’s sons and a witness, who is now cooperating with the U.S. government, to organize the construction of the underground tunnel that Guzman used to escape from the Altiplano prison to prevent his extradition to the U.S. The plot included purchasing a piece of land near the prison, firearms and an armored truck and smuggling him a GPS watch so they could “pinpoint his exact whereabouts so as to construct the tunnel with an entry point accessible to him,” the court papers say.

Guzman was sentenced to life behind bars in 2019.

– No exit: El Chapo likely off to 'Alcatraz of the Rockies'
Coronel, who was a beauty queen in her teens, regularly attended Guzman’s trial, even when testimony implicated her in his prison breaks. The two, separated in age by more than 30 years, have been together since at least 2007, and their twin daughters were born in 2011.

Her father, Ines Coronel Barreras, was arrested in 2013 with one of his sons and several other men in a warehouse with hundreds of pounds of marijuana across the border from Douglas, Arizona. Months earlier, the U.S. Treasury had announced financial sanctions against her father for his alleged drug trafficking.

After Guzman was rearrested following his escape, Coronel lobbied the Mexican government to improve her husband’s prison conditions. And after he was convicted in 2019, she moved to launch a clothing line in his name.

Mike Vigil, the Drug Enforcement Administration’s former chief of international operations, said Coronel “has been involved in the drug trade since she was a little girl. She knows the inner workings of the Sinaloa cartel.”

He said she could be willing to cooperate.

“She has a huge motivation, and that is her twins,” Vigil said.
Associated Press writers Christopher Sherman and Mark Stevenson in Mexico City contributed to this report.

Redman VERZUZ Method Man (Watch party)

Method Man, the only rapper to appear on Notorious B.I.G. and 2 Pac albums while the two artists were alive, is primarily known for his music as a member of the Wu-Tang Clan (“Method Man”). In 1994, Method Man released the first of his six solo albums including “Tical,” a RIAA-certified platinum album, and “Tical 2000: Judgement Day.”

Standout tracks from those albums include “Bring the Pain,” “Judgement Day,” and “Break Ups 2 Make Ups,” featuring past Verzuz guest D’Angelo, and “I’ll Be There for You/You’re All I Need to Get By,” Method Man’s duet — a wildly popular wedding song — with legendary R&B singer Mary J. Blige.

Redman, a Def Squad affiliate (Erick Sermon and Keith Murray) who debuted in 1992 with “Whut? Thee Album,” is known for a string of hits including “Time 4 Sum Aksion,” “Tonight’s da Night,” “Can’t Wait,” “I’ll Bee Dat”, and “Let’s Get Dirty (I Can’t Get in da Club),” among many others.

The two joined forces for “How High,” a track from the 1995 album “The Show: The Soundtrack,” and later parlayed their friendship — and charisma — into a film, movie soundtrack and TV series by the same name, along with other albums including “Blackout!” and “Blackout! 2.”

Poet and author Kevin Powell says the friendship between Method Man and Redman is tangible proof of how two highly successful creatives can produce timeless music while staying close.

“Method Man and Redman are not only two of the greatest characters in hip-hop’s history, but their deep friendship has endured across styles and eras of culture

Botham Jean's mother Allison Jean addressed the public after Amber Guyger was sentenced Wednesday afternoon.

The murder trial of a former Dallas cop who shot and killed her unarmed neighbor in his home last year ended in a dramatic gesture of forgiveness. The brother of the victim, Botham Jean, hugged former police officer Amber Guyger -- a gesture that brought even the judge to tears.

In an interview with CBS News' Omar Villafranca, the victim's mother, Allison Jean, said she was surprised by the moment her 18-year-old son Brandt offered forgiveness to his brother's killer.

"What he did today, was remarkable, and he did it all on his own," she said. "What Brandt did was to cleanse his heart towards Amber … I do not want it to be misconstrued as a complete forgiveness of everybody."

She said there is plenty of blame to go around for the murder of her son Botham, not just with Guyger. In her eyes, multiple Texas agencies share the responsibility.

Jean family attorney Daryl Washington says Brandt showed Guyger the compassion Botham would have given.

"If Amber Guyger had of just spoke to Botham when she walked in the apartment, Botham would have been the type of guy to say, let me get you a bowl, join me, have some ice cream," Washington said.

Botham Jean's brother forgives and hugs Amber Guyger, the former officer convicted in Jean's death

Guyger was sentenced to 10 years in prison for murdering Jean, though she could have received up to 99 years. She will be eligible for parole after five years. People angry over what they describe as a lenient sentence took to the streets to protest overnight. Allison Jean said that a murder conviction "is justice" but that "there is a lot that has to be done by the Dallas Police Department, by the Texas Rangers, by the city of Dallas."

Dallas Police Chief Renee Hall said she is launching an internal investigation into issues revealed during the trial – including allegations of tampering with evidence and protecting Guyger.

"I acknowledge that there are things that we need to change. There are areas of concern that we need to address," Hall said.

When CBS News spoke to Allison Jean before the trial, she said she's not ready for forgiveness. Now, she said, she's "getting closer to it."

There was another usual moment in court. Judge Tammy Kemp hugged the Jean family then also walked over and hugged Guyger and gave her a bible to take with her to prison.

The Jean family attorney says they would like to see legislation passed in Botham's name to give police officers additional training. They say if Guyger reacted differently, he might be alive today.

But this isn't the end for Amber Guyger either. Her attorneys are considering filing an appeal.
